SPYLAW
BANK HOUSE is an elegant Georgian home built around 1800 as
the farm and dower house for the Gillespie estate. It enjoys
a secluded position in its own walled gardens close to the
historic village of Colinton, yet only 3 miles from Edinburgh
city centre.
David Martin is pleased to welcome you to the family home
where comfort is assured. You can relax in the original drawing-room
with open fire and views of the extensive gardens. Breakfast
is taken in the spacious dining-room with its period features.
There
are three double bedrooms, each of which has a private bathroom
with bath and/or shower, colour television, tea and coffee
trays and every comfort and facility. Each room is luxuriously
appointed with many personal touches and have king-sized,
double or twin beds. Heating can be controlled for personal
comfort and all the bathrooms have heated towel rails and
hairdryers.
We offer a traditional Scottish breakfast, or you can choose
a lighter alternative with home made preserves and fruits.
There are many excellent eating places in Edinburgh and we
have numerous local restaurants and public houses suitable
for evening meals.
Spylaw Bank House is ideally situated for people with business
in and around Edinburgh, as well as a base for sightseeing
in the City and touring Scotland. We are a ten minute drive
from the airport and only minutes from the city by-pass and
motorways. For exploring Edinburgh we suggest visitors leave
their cars in the private parking area within our grounds
and take the 15 minute bus journey into the centre.
Edinburgh
is an ideal base for discovering Scotland, its history and
scenery. The Borders, Fife and St. Andrews, Glasgow, the West
Coast and the Highlands are all within a day's drive, and
there are many organised tours available. Amenities in the
local area include golf courses, fishing, pony trekking and
walking.
We are always happy to give information about the city and
local activities.
